A Huge Thank You!

As another school year draws to a close, everyone in Astra says a massive thank you to all who have helped in our tenth year of training teachers across Buckinghamshire and beyond.

Working with our partner schools, we have had another highly successful year for teacher training and accreditation. An impressive 47 trainees have completed their training this year and gained Qualified Teacher Status, with most also working towards a PGCE via Goldsmiths, University of London.

And a record 36 have been deemed worthy of Qualified Teacher Status through the Assessment Only route.

None of this would have been possible without our army of mentors, tutors, ITTCos and supervisors, nor our dedicated support team in the Astra offices.

Next year, we have sixty trainees commencing their Initial Teacher Training through our partnership of local schools, covering primary, secondary and special schools, and including both maintained and independent sectors. Secondary trainees will be speciailising in the full range of subjects - everything from dance and drama, English and history to physics, computing and biology.

Applications for September 2025 open on 8th October and Astra will be running a series of recruitment events, including an Open Evening at Aylesbury Grammar School on 3 December.
