Welcome to our new APTs

It was wonderful to see the first of our new cohort of Astra Parternship Trainees (APTs) join us for their Induction Day this week at Dr Challoner's Grammar School in Amersham.  Welcome to Astra SCITT and the start of your teaching career!

With the aim of helping APTs be ready for the demands of their training year, the full day of training covered the course and its aims, the structure of placements and started to explore what is means to be a professional teacher - everything from the right clothes to wear to the behaviours and values that underpin teaching as a profession.

APTs also found out how to use Mosaic, the online platform that will be an important tool in their professional development, as well as learning about how to get their teaching placements off to a flying start.

Further induction days take place in June and July both in Amersham and in Aylesbury to help our sixty APTs prepare for their their PGCE/ QTS courses which commence in September.
