Welcome to the Astra SCITT team!

Astra SCITT is delighted to welcome David Ingledew as our new Director of Secondary. 

With a background in higher education, including previous experience as Secondary Course Director for a large university PGCE, David brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the Astra team. He has a strong interest in supporting teachers' wellbeing, especially around mental health issues, and set up the PGCE History course at the University of Hertfordshire. 

He is currently completing doctoral studies in the teaching of History; his background in education research will be of particular benefit to trainees as they seek to become evidence led and research informed classroom practitioners.

Prior to his work in initial teacher education, David taught History and Economics in schools in Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire, and before that worked in nursing.

David will have strategic oversight for the development of Astra's secondary course and will be working closely with partner schools to support trainees in their journey towards Qualified Teacher Status.
